Room to Play on a Colorado Hillside

This backyard landscape design works with the slope instead of against it, giving a young family room to play, soak, and gather. We brought in natural stone to match the home's exterior, so every feature looks like it has always belonged here.

A naturalistic recreational pond anchors the design, fed by a multi-tier stone waterfall. Above the water, a stone patio with a built-in fire pit and a hot tub sit close enough to hear the falls.

Our team kept lawn space for the kids and filled the beds with drought-tolerant plantings. The result is a year-round water feature and outdoor living area without the water demands of a big lawn or the upkeep of a chemically treated pool.
